Honda Vietnam to have a new Piston plant
On March 20 th , Honda Vietnam has held the inauguration ceremony that put the Piston workshop operational and just 1 day later, on March 21 st , 2014, the company welcomed the 15 th million bike produced in Vietnam. After the component following the gear workshop introduction, the Piston workshop will help Honda Vietnam increase the localization rate of products, thus contributing to export activities. Honda Vietnam Piston workshop is built on an area of over 3.000 m 2 today precinct of Honda Vietnam plant in Phuc Thang – Phuc Yen – Vinh Phuc. With an investment of nearly 230 billion VND, the Piston workshop is designed for a maximum output of 2.4 million pieces/year. The workshop officially went into operation on April 1 st , 2014. HVN put the Piston workshop into operation Along with the engine component molding workshop with a production of 2 million product sets/year, the gear producing workshop with a production of 2.3 million products/year and the incoming accessories center with huge space and investment, the Piston workshop will be the next help completing the infrastructure system, thus creating a solid foundation for domestic production also as export expansion. Founded in 1996, Honda Vietnam produced its first motorbike in 1998. Since then, the company has gone through remarkable historical checkpoints, like for example the 5 th million motorbike in 2008 July, 10 million production in 2011 November and the 15 th million mark in March 21 st , 2014. The Piston workshop will be the foundation for the company’s export expansion The 15 th million motorbike of Honda Vietnam was an Air Blade. Air Blade was first introduced in Vietnam market in 2007 April and quickly became the dominant scooter today market. After 7 years, Air Blade has brought Honda Vietnam great success as well over 2 million units were sold.
